Have you reformatted your computer lately? If so, have you made a back up to all the important file, including the bookmarks? Are you using FireFox? If you have reformatted your computer and using FireFox as your web browser and didn’t back up your bookmarks, then you need to read this post so that next time you don’t lose your bookmarks in your FireFox browser. This post is also for those who are planning to reformat their computer. Follow these simple instructions:

1. Open FireFox - Do I need to tell you which icon to click?

Bookmark

2. Organized bookmarks eh? - Click ‘Bookmarks’ and click ‘Organize Bookmarks’. After that, a new window will appear.

4. Save it - Firefox will prompt you to save your bookmarks, so save it in a floppy disk (someone is still using this storage media), thumb drive or portable HD. In my case, I choose my thumb drive.

BookmarkManagerImport

5. Importing bookmarks - After you have reinstall FireFox, go back to the bookmarks manager and click ‘Import’.

6. Choose correctly - You will be prompted to import either from ‘Microsoft Internet Explorer’ or ‘From File’. Select the second option and click ‘Next’. (If you want to import from MS IE, just repeat the same process and choose the first option.)

I prefer to use Bookmark Base for bookmark managing tasks: it’s blazing fast and has very powerful search embedded.
